We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Vulnerability Management Specialist to join our team in the DC metro area. In this critical role, you will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and managing vulnerabilities within our information systems, applications, and networks. You will lead the efforts to resolve support issues related to security flaws, work with vendors to address problems, and provide technical expertise across business functions to ensure a robust and secure technology environment. Your work will directly influence our long-term security strategy, protecting our digital assets and ensuring compliance with best practices.

responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot existing information systems and applications to identify security vulnerabilities and deficiencies.
- Provide technical expertise to manage the entire vulnerability lifecycle, from detection and analysis to remediation.
- Lead the team responsible for resolving support issues escalated by operations, development personnel, or service providers.
- Work with vendors and service providers during the problem resolution process to address security-related issues.
- Research and analyze emerging security technologies and tools, making recommendations to enhance our organization's defense posture.
- Serve as a consultant and escalation point for security-related issues, providing technical consultation and advice to project managers.
- Assist in defining and monitoring the technical security aspects of programs and projects, ensuring they align with our enterprise security strategy.
qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field plus 6+ years of experience, or 10+ years of relevant work experience as a subject matter expert in vulnerability management.
- Strong working experience utilizing the ITIL Framework for Incident, Change, Problem, and Release Management.
- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work collaboratively in an integrated team environment.
- Relevant security certifications, such as CISSP, CEH, or CompTIA Security+, are highly desirable.
- Preferred: A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 8+ years of experience and certifications such as CISSP, MCSE, or CCNP.
