job summary: A Quality Engineer is needed for a leader in power and automation technologies in the Richmond, VA area. This role will lead complex technical studies, manage compliance with industry standards like UL and IEEE, and utilize advanced root cause analysis to reduce the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and drive process automation. location: Richmond, Virginia job type: Contract salary: $45 - 48 per hour work hours: 3pm to 12am education: Bachelors responsibilities: Develop and maintain comprehensive Quality Plans, Control Plans, and inspection checklists.Derive Critical to Quality (CTQ) parameters and establish strategic Q-gates within the production line.Monitor and analyze First Pass Yield metrics to implement quality and efficiency improvements.Conduct thorough root cause analyses on customer complaints and implement corrective actions.Coordinate cross-functional teams during customer audits, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and certification audits.Perform COPQ analyses to identify cost-saving opportunities and reduce defect-related losses.Map manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement through automation.Advise senior management and major customers on advanced quality assurance issues and resolutions. Skills: Proficient in quality tools like FMEA, 7 QC tools, 5S, 5Why, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, SPC, DMAIC & 8D Root cause analysisFamiliar with key industry standards such as UL1561, NEMA ST-20, IEEE C57.12.01, IEEE C57.12.91, DOE 2016, UL891, and CSA C22.2, which enhances compliance and product reliability.Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies is highly desirable.
