This role ensures that all changes to the production environment are properly documented, risk-assessed, and compliant with NIST 800-53 controls and FISMA requirements before implementation. The analyst serves as a key participant in the Change Advisory Board (CAB) process and is accountable for the accuracy and integrity of all change records. This is a compliance-sensitive role operating within a government IT environment subject to regular audits by the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA), the State Auditor's Office, and federal oversight bodies. The successful candidate must be comfortable working within established governance frameworks while helping mature and improve the change management program over time. location: Atlanta, Georgia job type: Contract salary: $45 - 55 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Change Lifecycle Management Review, validate, and process all change requests (standard, normal, and emergency) submitted, ensuring completeness and accuracy before CAB review.Conduct initial risk and impact assessments for each change, flagging high-risk or conflicting changes for escalation.Maintain the Forward Schedule of Change (FSC) and communicate planned maintenance windows to affected stakeholders.Track change implementation status through to post-implementation review (PIR) and closure. CAB Coordination Prepare CAB meeting agendas, distribute change packages to reviewers in advance, and document meeting outcomes and decisions.Facilitate CAB and emergency CAB (eCAB) sessions, ensuring quorum, proper documentation, and timely decision-making.Coordinate with change owners, technical leads, and business stakeholders to resolve open questions prior to approval. Compliance & Audit Readiness Ensure all change records are fully documented and aligned with NIST 800-53 control requirements (particularly CM-3, CM-4, CM-5, and CM-6) and FISMA reporting obligations.Maintain audit-ready evidence packages for all production changes, including approvals, test results, back-out plans, and PIR documentation.Support internal and external audits by providing change management artifacts, metrics, and process documentation upon request.Identify and report on unauthorized changes or policy deviations, coordinate with management on remediation. Process Improvement & Reporting Generate weekly and monthly change management KPI reports including change volume, approval rates, failed changes, and unauthorized change trends.Identify recurring issues, failed changes, and process gaps; recommend and implement improvements to change management procedures.Maintain and update the Change Management Policy, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and work instructions. qualifications: - Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent work experience considered. - Experience: 3+ years of IT experience, with at least 2 years in a change management, IT operations, or ITSM role. - Compliance Knowledge: Working knowledge of NIST 800-53 controls, particularly the Configuration Management (CM) and Audit and Accountability (AU) control families. - Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with FISMA compliance requirements and government IT audit processes. - Communication: Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, audit-quality documentation. - Operational Skills: Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a high-volume, compliance-driven environment. Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) - Hands-on experience with ServiceNow - specifically Change Management, CMDB, and reporting modules. - ITIL v4 Foundation certification or higher. - Experience in a state or federal government IT environment. - Familiarity with Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) IT procurement and standards requirements. - Experience supporting audits conducted by the Georgia State Auditor's Office or similar oversight body.
