job summary: The Civil Engineering Manager position is a long-term contract role, reporting to the Director of Civil & Structural Engineering. This is a hands-on role overseeing civil/structural design for assigned utility-scale renewable energy projects and providing training to staff. The position supports project development and focuses on optimizing cost, improving quality, and normalizing processes. A hybrid work arrangement requires 3 days in the Chicago office initially. location: Chicago, Illinois job type: Contract salary: $60 - 80 per hour work hours: 8am to 4pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Manage within the Civil/Structural Engineering program for onshore renewable energy facilities.Provide risk analysis for development stage projects and produce conceptual mass grading plans.Review civil and structural design packages (including foundations, supports, and PV racking systems) for compliance with codes and standards.Review hydrology studies, site layout, grading, drainage, and stormwater management plans to support value engineering.Collaborate with the electrical engineering and transmission teams on engineering packages for lines and substations.Manage and respond to contractor RFIs and submittals.Provide technical support for the geotechnical investigation program and assist the Permitting team.Support Construction Project Management with cost estimates and information for schedules and financial models.
