Join our dynamic team in the nuclear energy sector as a Remote Mechanical Design Engineer. In this pivotal role, you will provide design engineering support and collaborate with vendors to drive efficient valve design, manufacturing, and testing for Boiling Water Reactors (BWR). You will manage the entire design lifecycle, from developing specifications and drawings to providing critical procurement and testing oversight.
To qualify, candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) and have at least 5 years of experience in the energy sector, ideally with a nuclear focus. Additionally, you need a minimum of 2 years of experience interfacing with customers, regulators, and suppliers. Due to federal compliance regulations, candidates must also meet U.S. Export Control Laws.

responsibilities:
- Lead the analysis, design, and testing of mechanical components for existing BWR fleets and BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactors.
- Partner closely with sourcing teams and external fabricators to provide comprehensive technical and manufacturing support.
- Perform fundamental engineering hand calculations and utilize 3D CAD to generate technical drawings and design documentation.
- Own the cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned engineering tasks while mentoring team talent.
- Prepare and present formal design reviews and technical reports to both internal and external stakeholders.
