Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
As a Staff Accountant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the financial integrity of the organization. Your core duties include:
- General Ledger & Month-End Support: Assist in the monthly closing process by reconciling cash, Accounts Receivable, prepaids, pledges, and other assigned GL accounts.
- Banking & Revenue Transactions: Manage digital donations (including PayPal, Stripe, and GoFundMe) and prepare ACH receipts for grants. Record check deposits, apply payments to invoices, and execute inter-account transfers.
- Bank Reconciliations: Perform comprehensive weekly master bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy across all accounts.
- Expense Management: Facilitate corporate credit card processing and reconcile those expenses to the General Ledger.
- Audit & Compliance: Support the annual audit process and Form 990 preparation by creating necessary schedules and documentation. Ensure all transactions align with institutional financial policies.
- Accounts Payable Support: Serve as a secondary backup for the AP department, processing invoices with a high degree of accuracy and adherence to internal controls.
- Experience: 1–2 years of general accounting experience is required.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is strongly preferred. Solid understanding of GAAP required.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel is essential. Experience with NetSuite or similar cloud-based ERP systems is a plus.
