Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Process, prep, scan, and manage protected health information and medical records while ensuring total HIPAA compliance, data accuracy, and timely chart retrieval.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, retrieve, and track discharged patient medical records from various hospital units.
- Prep, scan, index, and perform quality checks on physical records and loose reports.
- Log chart locations, respond to telephone inquiries, and fulfill records requests for medical staff.
- Maintain scanning equipment and adhere to daily departmental production and accuracy standards.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum typing speed of 30 WPM with strong Windows and computer proficiency.
- Knowledge of alphabetical and numerical filing systems with exceptional attention to detail.
- Preferred: Previous HIM or medical office experience, electronic EMR familiarity, and medical terminology knowledge.
