We are seeking an Accountant to support our core finance operations while serving as our internal subject matter expert for multi-state tax compliance. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, you will handle general accounting, month-end close procedures, and lead direct correspondence with state tax agencies across the country for property, business, and employment tax matters. Skills: Excellent written communication for agency correspondence, critical thinking/forecasting capabilities, and high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Tax & Multi-State Operations: Primary point of contact for state and local tax agencies nationwide. Draft and submit formal agency correspondence, notice responses, and audit documentation for property, business, and employment/payroll taxes.
  
  
• General Ledger & Month-End Close: Prepare journal entries, perform balance sheet reconciliations, maintain the fixed asset sub-ledger, and assist with financial statement preparation under GAAP.
  
  
• Banking & Reconciliations: Reconcile daily bank activity, cash receipts, and weekly corporate card transactions. Prepare weekly and monthly Borrowing Base Certificate filings.
  
  
• Lease & Payroll Accounting: Partner with Logistics for ASC 842 lease compliance and provide HR with payroll accounting support.
  
  
• Analysis & Improvement: Conduct trending, forecasting, and ad hoc analysis; identify process improvements across financial operations.
  
  

Qualifications

• Multi-State Tax Background: Proven experience responding to state tax agencies across property, business, and employment tax types.
  
  
• General Accounting: grasp of GAAP, account reconciliations, and month-end close workflows. Construction or commercial restoration industry experience is a plus.
  
  
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas) and experience with ERP systems (Acumatica preferred).
