Our client in the Washington, DC area is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with 1–3 years of experience to manage core financial functions and support month-end operations in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related Business field is required. Experience: 1–3 years of professional accounting experience. Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and formulas). Software Familiarity: Experience with accounting systems such as Deltek Costpoint, QuickBooks, Oracle, or Sage Intacct is highly preferred. Journal Entries & Accruals: Prepare and post monthly journal entries for payroll, interest, and debt amortization, while ensuring all entries are supported by referenced documentation in accordance with GAAP. Reconciliations: Perform detailed monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet items, including prepaid expenses and long-term expense accounts. Fixed Asset Oversight: Manage comprehensive fixed asset databases, completing accurate monthly depreciation schedules and tracking capitalized interest. Accounts Payable & Receivable (AP/AR) Invoicing & Disbursements: Process high-volume AP/AR invoices, manage vendor inquiries, and execute weekly payment disbursements. Revenue Tracking: Monitor daily cash balances and track progress for fundraising or marketing campaigns to ensure accurate revenue recognition. Discrepancy Resolution: Research and resolve discrepancies in subcontractor invoices and accounting reports by collaborating with project managers and staff.
