Description The Accounting Manager oversees the Firm’s core accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, cash receipts, trust/IOLTA accounting, and financial reporting. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Accounting, this role leads the month-end close process, ensures compliance with legal industry standards, and provides financial insights to partners and practice leaders. The ideal candidate has prior law firm or professional services accounting experience and strong people-management skills. Requirements Lead month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements. Oversee general ledger integrity, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting. Manage accounts payable, cash receipts, firm credit cards, and banking activity. Oversee trust/IOLTA accounting and ensure compliance with bar rules and regulations. Support billing processes, A/R and WIP reviews, and respond to billing and payment inquiries. Supervise, train, and evaluate accounting and billing staff. Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Coordinate annual financial reviews, audits, and support tax and budget processes. Partner with IT and operations to improve financial systems and reporting. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred. 5+ years of public accounting experience, prior law firm or professional services experience strongly preferred. 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience. Demonstrated experience with legal accounting and billing systems; Aderant experience a plus. strong knowledge of trust accounting, and law firm financial operations.
