Large utility company is looking for a Project Coordinator neither either Grand Rapids or Jackson, MI. This HYBRID role will coordinate utility construction phases by utilizing strong scheduling, document control, and blueprint reading skills to ensure field projects meet safety and regulatory standards. responsibilities:
- Coordinate all phases of utility construction from initial scheduling through project completion.
- Act as the primary communication hub between project management, field operations, procurement, and customers.
- Develop, maintain, and update construction schedules while adjusting timelines for progress.
- Facilitate pre-construction planning, including permitting, material readiness, and crew assignments.
- Monitor field activities to ensure compliance with utility standards, specifications, and regulations.
- Interpret construction drawings, utility maps, work packages, and job prints.
- Track construction milestones and document work completed for final inspections.
- Support close-out activities, including the preparation of as-built documentation.
- Resolve field issues, coordinate outages, and escalate risks to project leadership.
- Maintain project records, including daily reports, change orders, and contractor invoices.
- strong understanding of utility construction processes, including underground/overhead distribution, gas or electric line work, or civil construction.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, utility maps, work packages, and job prints.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills for working with field crews, contractors, and internal teams.
- Proficiency with scheduling tools and project management software; strong Excel and documentation skills.
- Ability to anticipate construction needs, identify potential conflicts, and proactively support field teams.
- strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active jobs simultaneously.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Project Management, or a related field.
- Equivalent experience in utility construction coordination, field operations, or contractor management may be accepted.
- Industry certifications (e.g., OSHA 10/30, CAPM, PMP, or utility?specific training) are beneficial but not required.
