A client of ours located in Louisville, Kentucky is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team. This position is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the company by managing general ledger accounts, executing month-end closing procedures, and performing accurate account reconciliations. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of GAAP, proficiency with modern accounting software and advanced Excel, and the ability to maintain financial data integrity with exceptional attention to detail. This role is key in streamlining financial reporting and contributing to the overall fiscal health of the organization. This position is a full-time permanent opportunity offering a competitive base salary and benefits package.

salary: $55,000 - $70,000 per year

Responsibilities

• Month-End Close: Prepare and record monthly journal entries, accrued expenses, and prepaid adjustments to support timely month-end and year-end closes.
  
  
• Account Reconciliations: Perform routine reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, accounts receivable, and accounts payable to ensure ledger accuracy and resolve balance discrepancies.
  
  
• Financial Statement Preparation: Assist in drafting balance sheets, income statements, and variance analysis reports in compliance with GAAP guidelines.
  
  
• Auditing & Compliance: Maintain audit-ready financial documentation, supporting internal controls and serving as a key point of contact during annual external audits.
  
  
• Tax & Regulatory Support: Help calculate, prepare, and file state and local sales/use tax returns, business licenses, and other regulatory filings.
  
  
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with operations, payroll, and department leads to review budget variances, track fixed assets, and continuously refine financial processes.
