Key Responsibilities
- Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Inspect, service, and repair processing, conveying, and packaging equipment (fillers, labelers, sealers, motors, gearboxes).
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on automated production lines.
- Food Safety Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), SQF/BRC standards, and OSHA safety regulations.
- Documentation: Log all maintenance activities, parts used, and work orders in our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Sanitation Collaboration: Ensure all repairs meet sanitary design principles and support deep-cleaning changeovers.
- Experience: 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a food, beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyor systems, and pumps. Basic electrical troubleshooting (PLCs, VFDs, up to 480V) is a plus.
- Safety Knowledge: Solid understanding of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash, and food safety standards (GMP, HACCP, SQF).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in varied temperature environments (coolers/warm processing areas).
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Industrial Maintenance certification or Journeyman card preferred.

Responsibilities
A Maintenance Mechanic at a food-grade manufacturing facility is responsible for ensuring all production machinery and utility systems operate at peak efficiency while strictly adhering to food safety regulations. Unlike standard manufacturing environments, every task must satisfy strict sanitary protocols to prevent product contamination.
Core Responsibilities
- Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on high-speed processing, batching, cooking, filling, and packaging machinery.
- Sanitary Compliance & Food Safety: Strictly adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles, and FDA/USDA regulations.
- Food-Grade Lubrication & Materials: Use only NSF H1 food-grade lubricants and approved, non-corrosive materials (such as 316 stainless steel) for all repairs.
- Troubleshooting Systems: Diagnose complex mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical failures (PLCs, sensors, drives) to minimize production downtime.
- CIP System Upkeep: Maintain Clean-In-Place (CIP) and Clean-Out-Of-Place (COP) automated sanitation systems, ensuring chemical dosing pumps, valves, and heating loops work accurately.
- Work Order & Documentation: Log all repair activities, PM tasks, and parts used in the facility’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for compliance auditing.
