job summary: A Manufacturing Engineer is needed for a major U.S. defense contractor and industrial corporation with core manufacturing concentrations in weapons and military and commercial electronics in the Foley, AL area. This position will optimize the performance of a wide range of tasks to facilitate assembly operations, production and business unit objectives and also will include designing and arranging machines, tooling, and sequence of operations and making sure that mandatory modifications are incorporated to ensure configuration compliance and to improve efficiency. location: Foley, Alabama job type: Contract salary: $36.50 - 43.00 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Optimize performance of tasks to facilitate assembly operations and production objectives.Design and arrange machines, tooling, and sequence of operations (layout).Ensure mandatory modifications are incorporated for configuration compliance and efficiency.Ensure the sequence of the manufacturing process and product builds complies with EH&S and Quality requirements.Improve manufacturing processes/products for producibility by working with design engineers.Implement process upgrades using robotics, automation, and shop floor corrective actions.Identify opportunities in drawings and specs to influence changes to engineering designs and line balancing.Participate in tool design reviews to ensure feasibility and reduce build times/program costs.Use data analytics / SPC for productivity, First Pass Yield (FPY), and OEE targets/improvement. Skills: Ability to read and interpret specifications and engineering drawings/models.Ability to demonstrate adaptation of machine/equipment design to factory/production conditions.Ability to read, write, speak, and understand work instructions, perform basic math, and conduct self-inspection/audit.Demonstrated experience in the application of Lean through Continuous Improvement events.Ability to multitask, problem-solve, manage resources, and possess effective time management/organizational skills.
