job summary: We have a 6 month contract opportunity for a Consumer Underwriter. This position is fully remote but candidates within commuting distance to Folsom, CA will be given preference. Job Description: Responsible for providing loan-related product and service information to members and staff and to underwrite applications for vehicle loans, credit cards and other consumer loan requests. Authorizes or recommends approval or denial of member consumer loan applications. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES Apply proper risk management, fair lending, and regulatory compliance to meet consistent credit policy for all credit decisions.Maintain awareness of Consumer and Equity loan policy and guidelines, as well as product eligibility requirements and changes.Review and evaluate loan applications sent to review for credit decisions.Meet established underwriting turnaround timeframes, according to assigned goals.Complete other duties, as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, and one or more years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Previous experience with consumer loan origination systems.
