A Controls Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Newton, NC area. This role seeks a highly independent Controls (PLC) Technician with 7+ years of experience (or 10+ without an AAS degree) to provide 2nd level troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and project execution support across all phases of manufacturing line installation, specializing in PLCs, HMIs, drives, and safety systems.

responsibilities:
- Technical Support: Provide 2nd level technical expertise in PLC controls-based troubleshooting for new production line installation.
- Continuous Improvement: Enhance manufacturing capabilities through the implementation of new ideas and methods.
- Project Execution: Independently execute project objectives to fulfill overall project goals and milestones.
- Design, fabrication, and off-line integration/testing.
- Installation and production start-up support.
- Training of plant personnel and technology transfer.
Experience & Education Requirements (Minimums):
Experience: 7+ years working with PLCs, HMIs, drives, and safety systems, and structured programming.
- Experience should preferably be in a manufacturing environment.
- 3 additional years of experience (for a total of 10+ years) can be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Expertise in PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), drives, and safety systems.
- Proficiency in structured programming.
- Knowledge of controls systems design, programming, and systems integration.
- Ability to program, source components, order components, and troubleshoot wiring and coding.
