The Director, Planned Giving Accounting Operations is responsible for leading the accounting functions related to non-cash gifts, including complex assets, charitable gift annuities (CGAs), life insurance, and the accounting for NCCF Type 1 internal Supporting Organizations (iSOs). location: Alpharetta, Georgia job type: Permanent salary: $120,000 - 150,000 per year work hours: 8 to 5 education: Bachelor's degree experience: 7 Years responsibilities: The Director works closely with their Tax Compliance Group (TCG) to ensure proper collection of funds for the associated tax liability and facilitates tax payments. The Director ensures financial data is recorded and reported in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and supports audit readiness and execution. This position leads and mentors a team of professionals and collaborates with cross-functional departments to ensure operational excellence and compliance. This position is hybrid based out of the office in Alpharetta, GA. Reports to: VP, Finance & Controller Management/Supervision: Reporting to this position are the Manager, Incoming Funds - Complex Assets, and the Senior Staff Accountant - Complex Assets Duties & Responsibilities Daily Accounting & Administration Oversee accounting for non-cash giving transactions (except securities) and SOs.Lead and supervise the PGAO team, ensuring accuracy in reconciliations, income recording, liquidation funds, asset entries, accounts payable, and CGA-related transactions.Collaborate regularly with the Asset Management team for asset valuations, SOA inquiries, and priority alignment.Record, maintain and update notes receivable and the related amortization schedules for promissory notes.Review and approve accounts payable processes for Type 1 SOs.Perform and document annual impairment testing for complex assets, working with CGS for valuations.Serve as a point of contact for CGS and TCG regarding accounting clarification and guidance.Train and support direct reports and temporary staff.Research and resolve accounting-related issues. Strategic Collaboration with VP - Finance & Controller Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures related to non-cash giving.Monitor and report on performance metrics and ensure departmental objectives are met.Conduct performance evaluations and set goals in collaboration with HR.Proactively identify and resolve accounting issues. Financial Reporting Ensure monthly financial reporting is accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant.Interpret financial data to support operational and strategic decision-making.Maintain general ledger and chart of accounts for assigned entities.Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations.Provide ad hoc financial reporting for complex assets. Audit & Compliance Maintain audit records for Type 1 SOs and support external/internal audit requests.Ensure compliance with GAAP and tax-related reporting standards.Perform impairment testing to ensure that assets are properly valued.Coordinate with auditors and address audit findings or issues promptly.Keep stakeholders informed on financial or audit concerns. Charitable Gift Annuities (CGAs) Oversee accurate recording of all CGA transactions received from the Gift Annuity Administrator.Maintain CGA spreadsheets and supporting records.Review and approve monthly bank reconciliations for CGA accounts.Ensure compliance with state-level CGA reporting requirements. Leadership & Team Development Hire, train, and develop staff within the PGAO team.Provide leadership and direction, fostering a high-performance culture. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises two or more employees in accordance with NCF policies and applicable laws.
